Carman's Scott Borsa shot a 142 at the Links at Quarry Oaks to win the two-day PGA of Manitoba's Assistant Pro Championship. Borsa beat Dave Lavallee of The Links at Quarry Oaks by one stroke. Glendale's Andrew Steep was third at 147.

Manitoba V-ballers invited back
Winnipeg's Tricia Mayba is among the 49 athletes that Volleyball Canada has invited to Winnipeg to compete for spots on the national women's A and B teams, not long after Team Canada failed to qualify for the 2012 Olympics. They will train at the Investors Group Athletic Centre until Friday.

Manitoba water polo player no. 1 star
Manitoba's Sheila Jensen was named the first star after scoring five goals in an 8-7 loss to Ottawa in a placement game of the 2012 16U Girls National Club Water Polo Championship at the Pan Am Pool on Monday. Manitoba finished eighth overall out of the 11 teams that were competing. It was ranked eighth going into the championship.

Winnipeg's Lynne Gauthier rolled to a silver medal at the 2012 National Bowling Championships in Mississauga, Ont., on Monday, which secured her a spot on the national women's team that will compete at international events next year.
