Doctors give Litsch some good news
Jesse Litsch hasn't had a lot of good news lately but he got some Tuesday. Doctors had ordered a blood test last Friday to make sure the infection in his injured shoulder had been completely healed and he got a clean bill of health on that front.

Jays mum on Lind and waivers
Toronto Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulus always keeps his cards close to his vest and apparently so too does manager John Farrell.
|
Morrow in the zone
The Toronto Blue Jays have gone on a nice little run against the two teams from New York.
|
Middle relief largely unused
With Francisco Cordero now out of the mix to work high-leverage relief innings, the Blue Jays will use Luis Perez, Darren Oliver and Jason Frasor as set-up men in the seventh and eighth innings.
|
Jays' starters a strength
The Blue Jays were hoping for better performance from their starting pitchers this season, but they weren't expecting it to be as good as it has been.
|
Encarnacion tops of April
DH Edwin Encarnacion was named the Honda player of the month for April in voting by the Toronto chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. Encarnacion, 29, hit .322 with eight homers and 21 RBIs.

Darvish, Matsuzaka worlds apart
Comparisons to Daisuke Matsuzaka began two years ago when word surfaced that Yu Darvish's contract would be posted ... to go to the highest bidder.
|
Bob Elliott's baseball notebook
Chris Chambliss, who hit one of the most dramatic homers ever at old Yankee Stadium, is the Seattle Mariners' hitting coach.
|
Jays Watch: Perez boosts value
Despite his strong start -- 12 2/3 scoreless innings -- manager John Farrell said lefty Luis Perez is not an option when the Jays need a sixth starter.
|
Darvish faces Jays Monday in T.O.
The Texas Rangers have made a switch in their rotation plans and set the much-ballyhooed Yu Darvish back a day which means the rookie right-hander from Japan will now be making the start for the Rangers on Monday at Rogers Centre in the first of a three-game set between Texas and the Blue Jays.
|
Jays Watch: Bautista's keen eye
The Blue Jays were encouraged to see Jose Bautista's familiar patience in the batter's box on Sunday as he went 1-for-1 with three bases on balls. That keen eye at the plate has been a hallmark of the slugger's approach and manager John Farrell is hopeful Sunday's game is a sign of home runs to come.
|
Lawrie makes Jays shiftier
Defensive over-shifting has been a part of baseball ever since Lou Boudreau's Cleveland Indians started doing it in 1946 against Ted Williams of the Red Sox.
|
Fantasy Fare: Think football
I read somewhere this week the best reason for not panicking in April, for not unloading players off to a slow start. It goes something like this: Releasing a player now is the equivalent, in your NFL pool, to dumping your quarterback because he threw for only one TD in Week 1.
|
Jays Watch: Lunch with Brett
Brett Lawrie and J.P. Arencibia got a chance to spend some time with legendary Royals third baseman and hall of famer George Brett over lunch Saturday.
|
Too early to evaluate Jays
With a dozen games under the Blue Jays' collective belt entering play Friday, manager John Farrell is hardly about to make any sweeping judgments about his team's .500 start.
