Dancing in the northern night sky
As you crane your neck toward the night sky, a glimmer appears. So faint and subtle at first, you aren't sure you've seen what you've been waiting for - so you hold your breath and wait for the next streak of light. Its arrival is startling: an undulating ribbon radiating an otherworldly shade of luminescent green with the occasional streak of magenta - intense, ephemeral, bold yet delicate. The next one is bigger, deeper, fuller, as is the next, until the entire sky glows.

Dinosaurs are the reason for going to Drumheller in Alberta's Badlands
"Hi, I'd like to go inside the dinosaur." As soon as I'd said it, I knew it didn't sound right. Before you hit the highway, refer to these tips for a better trip
Maybe it's the repetitive fixed-route nature of the daily grind, maybe it's nostalgia for childhoods spent staring out the back window, maybe it's the fear that unhinged, liberating car trips across vast spaces are under threat of extinction from rising gas prices. Whatever your motivation to get behind the wheel and drive, there's a good way and a Griswold way. Without draining the fun, here are a few useful tips to make your ride smoother.

Nobody knows the highways and byways like a rock band on tour
Crisscrossing the country in an endless loop, the Toronto bar band The Beauties have run into their share of adventures. They've got shows this summer in Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver, not to mention a gig at the Hillside Festival in Guelph, Ont., later this month. Basically, the guys get around, which opens them up to lots of cool stuff.

Seven new, wholesome ways to have fun in the dark
While every day is getting a little bit lighter since the
winter solstice Dec. 22, it will be months before we have full days
of sunshine. Rather than hibernate like a grizzly, embrace the
darkness with these experiences:
